Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)
If you are employed by the University of California, you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer. For more information, please visit the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program website: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service#qualifying-employment
For current UC Santa Barbara employees: If you are/will be part of the PSLF program and need to submit your annual employment certification form, or if you haven't submitted one since September 2018, you now have to submit the form electronically to the UC Path Center.
After you have completed parts 1 and 2 of the PSLF employment certification form, print and sign the form. (Access the form at: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service#help-tool) Then submit the form via an inquiry on UC Path. When you log in to UC Path, search for "public service loan forgiveness" and you will get directed to a FAQ. The FAQ will have the instructions on how to submit the form.
